Our client visited New York and was completely inspired by the city, particularly the Empire State Building.

And so the theme and name were born for their latest venture, a new restaurant on Florida Road. The brief for The Empire Steak was exactly as you'd expect—to bring alive the New York aesthetic and style within an old Durban building.

We turned the patio into a courtyard garden with a classic checkerboard tile pattern, inlaid with brass bars emulating the restaurant logo.

The restaurant interior is finished with exposed raw brick, black steel hanging gardens, mirror panels, and a bespoke NYC skyline in reflective gold vinyl, with the Empire State Building taking centre stage.

For the kids' play area, we parked a NYC school bus on the side patio and fitted it with a full obstacle course, climbing wall and monkey bars.
