Love Coffee opened up a second coffee bar in 2017 on Holden Road, Morningside.

The brief was to create a small hole-in-the-wall coffee bar that could be serviced by one barista. The site was a long and narrow store with incredibly high ceilings and stack-back glass shop fronts. Fitting out the space, we painted the side walls white and the back wall in dark charcoal to draw the eye and customer in. We used slatted timber to divide the back-of-the-house kitchenette from the front-of-the-house coffee bar, as this would allow a line of sight to the front of the house at all times. We extended the slatted timber feature into a bulkhead that celebrated the ceiling height of the space, giving this little shop a wonderful sense of space.

All the shop fitting was finished in birch ply, offset with black appliances and lush green plants to soften the space and bring the idea of a garden inside. We then visually doubled the space by installing a large gold bevelled mirror on one side of the store to reflect all of the natural light and make the shop feel large and spacious.

We loved working with a client who allowed free rein to our vision and are delighted to report the store has been well received by the surrounding neighbourhood.
