House Justin is part of a large-scale new farm development in the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands specialising in Brahman cattle breeding. The development was built from the ground up, and we were tasked with designing all of the residential areas. There are a few residential projects on the farm; these are photos of House Justin.
The residence had to have a contemporary look and feel but, above all, be comfortable and not pretentious or austere. We used timber and other natural materials that had texture to create the feeling of warmth and ease.
All cabinetry for the living room, kitchen and bedrooms was bespoke designed and made from oak. We chose a combination of bright primary colours and patterned linens and wallpapers for bedrooms and bathrooms to offset the neutral oak finishes.
Black metal accents used for the doors, windows and lighting fixtures combined with monochrome artworks give a modern feel to the country house.
