THE EMPIRE STEAK
Restaurant / Durban
Our client visited New York and were completely inspired by the city and in particular the Empire State Building.
And so the theme and name was born for their latest venture, a new restaurant in Florida Road. The brief for The Empire Steak was exactly as you'd expect - to bring alive the New York aesthetic and style within an old Durban building.
We turned the patio into a courtyard garden with a classic checker board tile pattern, inlaid with brass bars emulating the restaurant logo.
The restaurant interior is finished with exposed raw brick, black steel hanging gardens, mirror panels and a bespoke NYC skyline in reflective gold vinyl with the Empire State building taking centre stage.
For the kids play area we parked a NYC school bus on the side patio and fitted it with a full obstacle course, climbing wall and monkey bars.
