New Frontiers is a tour operator that offers tailor made travel experiences in Southern Africa. With this in mind we chose to break away from the savanah safari themed Africa, that is so pervasive in design and instead be inspired by the dark, lush African jungle. The materials used were a variety of timbers, that brought warmth, comfort and familiarity to the office interior and black steel that represented the rich, dark soils of the jungles of Africa.
Ardmore jungle inspired wallpapers added a whimsical element whilst full height green planted walls made the space feel alive.
Contrast is always important to bring a space together and so we used woven timber beads, embroidered fabrics, jute carpets and ground concrete floors to usher in a tactile element to the open office space.
Bright pops of colour were used in the palette to mirror the naturally colourful animal species found in these locations, but also to offset the warm, earthy colour tones and monochromatic photographic artworks.
